From Stone to Story: Handcrafted Natural Pigment Art
Each artwork begins in the earth—crushed rocks, ground minerals, and hand-mulled pigments transformed into original pieces that reflect nature, faith, and place. Slow, intentional, and made entirely by hand.
Process
My creative process is rooted in movement, where walking becomes a channel for introspection, connection and understanding. Inspired by Tim Ingold’s concept of the wayfarer, I engage with the world through sensory and intellectual awareness, fostering a deep, embodied relationship with the landscapes I traverse. This practice is about more than exploration, it’s about forming a dialogue with my surroundings, paying attention and listening closely to the land’s stories.
Walking serves as a mindful, meditative process that connects me to spaces in a tactile, intimate way. As I encounter different ecosystems, I observe textures, colours, and energies, which inform and shape my art. This direct interaction with the environment allows me to learn from it and absorb its essence, translating it into my work.
Sustainability is central to my practice, and I craft my own inks and paints from foraged plants, rocks, and organic materials. This hands-on approach creates a direct link between my work and the land, embedding its spirit into every piece. By blending nature’s textures and colours with mindful practices, I aim to create art that is both beautiful and carries the wisdom of the places I draw from.
Drawing on location and painting in the studio, I capture the essence of the landscapes that inspire me. Each mark reflects my journey, inviting viewers to connect with nature not just visually, but emotionally and experientially.
